James Beal

Bio:

My practice focuses on probate administration and contested probate litigation. This includes decedent estate administration, guardianship and conservatorship for adults and minors, mental health law, fiduciary litigation, and contested matters arising out of trusts and estates. On a select basis, I assist clients with estate planning needs, and represent both individuals and families in personal injury and intentional tort cases. I have successfully tried numerous cases to verdict - both jury and bench. My trial experience includes personal injury, intentional torts, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, contested probate court proceedings, contested order of protection hearings (for both petitioners and respondents), real estate disputes, and insurance related matters. When appropriate, I resolve cases through mediation, formal arbitration, or negotiated settlement.

Additionally, I am a qualified civil and family mediator in Missouri, having successfully mediated dozens of cases involving custody disputes and probate-related matters. I also serve, when called upon, as a GAL in the family, probate, and juvenile courts; and regularly provide pro bono representation through Legal Services of Eastern Missouri.
